In the year 1982 Mauritius Gularte attended a retreat at a Catholic Movement called "Encounters of Youth Promotion (Emproistas). In one of the messages of the retreat, Father Fernando Garcia made a compelling reason to question about what each of the young audience was doing.

He started by visiting almost all the institutions involved in Guatemala house orphans healthy.

This trip helped the founders to form a clear vision of the situation regarding this issue, we did put our feet on the ground with regard to the commitment that was assumed, but more importantly, served to discover that, while a speech great need to help children orphaned healthy, what was even more devoted to the children orphaned, abandoned or at risk, but with mental disabilities.
